Leeds consolidate 2nd place

The Union Scratch team consolidated second place in the YIDU league with a fine win against East Riding at Cookridge Hall where the weather was sunny and the greens were fast and tricky.

Manager Nigel McKee took the opportunity to field home club youngsters Nathan Ali and Jeehvan Singh as well as 2016 Junior Order of Merit winner Cameron Owen of Oulton Hall. The morning foursomes proved a springboard for a good day for Leeds with the home Union taking a commanding 11 - 1 lead into the afternoon singles.

East Riding fought back well in the afternoon but the Leeds top order of Tom Broxup (Cookridge Hall),  Andy Wiltshire (Ponterfact), Simon Coumbe (Pontefract), Tom Pilling (Cookridge Hall) proved too strong for their East Riding ccounterparts with the first 4 matches all going in favour of the home Union to establish the home win.  East Riding took the middle order honours but it was not enough as Leeds ran out winners by 24 - 12.

Leeds can now look forward with confidence to their last match at Ilkley on 3 September against Harrogate.
