At the YIDU Team Championships held last Sunday, 10th September, at the excellent Cleveland Golf Club Nigel Mckee shows his surprise at picking up the 2017 League Runners up Trophy on behalf of the Leeds Union team.
Leeds finished only one point behind eventual winners Sheffield but Nigel was pleased with the support of his teams this year. He has pulled together a squad of experienced players mixed with young up and coming players. Nigel says he is already making plans to go one better next year.
The team had designs on the Team Championship Trophy at Cleveland particularly when they were joint leaders with favourites Sheffield after posting an impressive total score of 449 for the morning rounds. Alas two scores of 84 and 82 in the difficult and testing conditions in the afternoon left us with too much to recover and the team recorder a second round score of 472 to finish in 3rd place behind winners Sheffield. This is a very promising start for Nigel and we are looking forward to next season.
