LEEDS & DISTRICT UNION of GOLF CLUBS
The Union held its Inter Club Knockout Finals at Scarcroft Golf Club on Sunday 26th August 2018.
The Wakefield pair of Ewan Bromley and Neil Kinghorn overcame both the inclement weather and the Horsforth pair of M. Hunter Mark Bedford to win the Foursomes Final. Their 4 & 3 result securing them the F.W. Nettleton Salver.
The Scratch Final saw the Howley Hall Team victorious over Temple Newsam. Ben Stephens beat Darren Marshall 1 up, Craig Watt beat Dave Hudson 8 & 6 and Steve Redgrave halved with Joel Fisher.
The inaugural Senior Knockout Final was between Normanton and Temple Newsam. Dave Finch lost to Willy Heselgrave 2 & 1, Graham Hall beat Jack Watkins 2 & 1 and Dean Mountain beat Jon White 3 &1 to win the Senior Knockout Trophy for Normanton.
The Junior Final was between Oulton Hall and Wike Ridge. Cameron Owen beat Maclain Simpson 2 up, Jake Wallis beat Afrid Iqbal 2 up and Jacob Moss beat Teddy Semple 5 & 4 to win the Junior Knockout Cup for Oulton Hall.
The Nett Final, between Woolley Park (Nick Thompson, Gary Clarke and Paul Altree) and Wike Ridge (Jonny Evans, Chris Clarke and James Heaton) produced an exciting finish. With one match each and one down on the 18th, Paul Altree knocked in a long putt to win the hole and take his opponent, James Heaton to the 19th hole. Paul won the extra hole and secured the John Smith Trophy for Woolley Park.
