LEEDS & DISTRICT UNION of GOLF CLUBS
The Union held its Senior Championship at a sunny Headingley on 6 August where 138 competitors competed for the S.D Bowyer Salver (Best Gross) and the A.V Wright Trophy (Best stableford score)
The low handicappers were first out and Sean Ryan (Horsforth) potsed a very creditable gross 71. However, Gordon Owen (Waterton Park ) then came in with a superb gross 69 to win the S.D. Bowyer Salver.( Photo below). In third place with 72 was Paul Birkett (Barnsley).
In the stableford competition Thomas Martin (Sand Moor) scored 41 points to take the A.V Wright Trophy. In second place on 40 points was David Bauja (Whitwood).
Age Group Prize winners were
50 - 59 Simon Wardley (Headingley) 36 points on count back from
David Sam Holmes (Pontefract & District)
60 - 69 Graham Martin (Moor Allerton) 37 points
Charlie Turner (Howley Hall) 36 points
70 & over Colin Warner (Moor Allerton) 37 points and the Veterans Cup
Ron Halliday (Garforth) 33 points
