LEEDS & DISTRICT UNION of GOLF CLUBS

Juniors win YIDU

The Union's Juniors capped a successful end to the season by winning the Inter District 6 man Team Championship at Pike Hills to complement their success in winning the Inter District League. A fine performance by lead out man Tom North in the morning who shot one under gross (despite a triple bogey on his penultimate hole!) and solid scores by Marcus Shepherd, Todd Hughes, George Heath, Daniel Bradbury, and captain Matty Lees saw the Leeds team with an 11 stroke advantage over Harrogate after the opening 18 holes. Tom's efforts saw him win the prize for the best morning score.

The team played well in the afternoon led by Daniel Bradbury who matched Tom's morning score of 70 and they stayed calm under intense pressure from Harrogate who clawed back 6 of the shots from Leeds. However, the margin from the morning proved too much to break down and Leeds triumphed over the 36 holes to win by 5 strokes and so retain the Team Championship that they won in 2014.

Daniel won the prize for best afternoon score.

The Union is proud to be associated with Junior sponsors ATP Advertising and Marketing and also the coaching provided to the squad by James Whitaker, Scott Oxley and the team at Moor Allerton.
