LEEDS & DISTRICT UNION of GOLF CLUBS

Christmas Alliance

By kind permission of Scarcroft Golf Club, who were hosting the annual Christmas Alliance for the 13th consecutive occasion, members of the Union raised in excess of £3,000 for the Leeds Children's Charity.

President Paul Blackburn paid tribute to the generosity of the Union members who had kindly donated raffle prizes and also to their spirit in making handsome bids for the auction items especially the 3 boxes of autographed golf balls that he had kindly donated to the auction.

He also announced that Barry Hardcastle of Leeds Golf Centre was the winner of the prestigious 'Golfer of the Year'. In addition he asked Clubs to support the annual dinner in March by inviting those members who had represented the Union in 2013 to attend.

In reply the Scarcroft Captain, Keith Silcox, welcomed the Union to his Club. Scarcroft is always keen to support the Union events. He trusted that the Union members had enjoyed the fruits of the work that the Club had done over the last year or so, particularly to the drainage. All agreed.

In the golf that preceded the Christmas lunch, 23 of the Union's clubs were represented and 100 golfers turned out. Results can be found on the Competitions page.
