LEEDS & DISTRICT UNION of GOLF CLUBS

Golfer of the Year 2016

Following his success in the Leeds Strokeplay Championship in April, Tom Broxup (Cookridge Hall) went on to win the Swithenbank Trophy for the second successive year with the best Gross Score over 36 holes at Howley Hall . In the process he assisted the Cookridge Hall team to win the 1st Division Team Championship 2016.

Tom was a regular member of the Leeds Union team through the year and played in the 6 man team at the YIDU Team Championships at Bradley Hall. For the second year running Tom was the beaten finalist in the Amateur Championship at Pontefract, losing to Ben Firth(Moortown), and is surely destined to win this coveted title in coming years.

His consistency and excellent golf enabled him to earn 40 points through the season, a record total since the Tony Jackson Trophy was first presented in 1996. Tom is deservedly the Leeds & District Golfer of the Year 2016.
