Annual Dinner 2018
The 2018 Annual Dinner was a huge success with excellent food and service at Elland Road and 191 satisfied people attending.The incoming Yorkshire President, Eric Wainwright, proposed a toast to the Leeds Union and recognised the significant support and achievements we make to the County. Not least of all the three players, Andy King,Mark Lawson and Johnny Lawrence together Team Manager Tony Greenhalgh who helped secure the English Seniors County Championship in 2017.
Our President Bob Thorp responded with an appraisal of the Union activities in the past year and the camaraderie and support from all the member clubs he has visited and who hosted events in a very full competition calendar. He finished with a big thank you from himself and on behalf of the Clubs to the hard working Executive members who have supported him this year.
The evening was brought to a close by an excellent and very entertaining speech from Dr. Geoff Miller OBE the ex England Cricketer and selector.The fact that he was given a standing ovation by 191 golfers is testament to the humour and quality of his recollections of many achievements during his career so far.
What a great night.
