Message from the President
Dear Member,
It is an honour and a privilege for both me and my golf club, Moortown, to be elected as your President in our 2020 Centenary Season. I would like to thank the Executive for placing their trust in me for the next twelve months. I have spent the previous two years working with the current Executive and learning about the tasks performed by the Union’s Executive, I have been very impressed by the professionalism, commitment and dedication shown by the organisation in the running of so many and varied events throughout the season.
My thanks are also due to Mike Gallagher our Immediate Past President who has not only served as our President but served as the Union Treasurer for the previous twenty years – a great contributor to the Union and a pleasure to support over the last twelve months.
We are however unfortunately experiencing severe disruption due to the Coronavirus Virus at the moment. We are monitoring advice available from National and Regional Golf bodies along with Governmental guidance and have had to cancel all Union Fixtures, Competitions and Functions until at least the 1st May. We will however be reviewing the situation during April and will keep you informed of developments which will of course have an impact on the above plans and the remainder of the season.
The year ahead will no doubt be challenging for all of us including all of our golf clubs, however our primary concern should be for the health and safety of those around us – we as a Union and as Individuals have a duty to act responsibly and heed the advice of Government in combating this Virus.
