Leeds & District Union of Golf Clubs

Leeds Strokeplay Championship

The Union held its Strokeplay Championship at Leeds Golf Club on 16 May 2024. It was good to finally get a competition in place that counted for handicap purposes after the horrendously wet winter.

Alfie Storer (Cookridge Hall) fresh from his college in the USA was crowned The Strokeplay Champion with a fine score of 70, helped in no small part by his mother who caddied for him. Alfie beat Jason Taggart (Low Laithes) by one stroke, with 4 players on 72.

Alfie being presented with the  J Keightley Trophy from Past President John Macmillan.

The top 16 gross scores go through to play in the Leeds Amateur Matchplay Championship, the final of which will be held on 15th September 2024

Damian Stones (Roundhay) carded a fine 67 to win the nett competition and the J Robshaw Trophy, beating David Stirk (Leeds) on countback
