Normanton Golf Club hosted the 2024 Junior Strokeplay Championship on a cool but bright summer day with 60 players from 12 clubs competing for the 3 trophies and titles on offer. The course was in great condition and well presented to provide a stern test.
Selby Golf Club member Joel O'Boyle won the W.H.Fenton Trophy and became the Strokeplay Champion with a fine score of 73 gross just 1 stroke in front of Sam McIntyre(Garforth) 74 gross and Oliver Strang (Waterton Park) 75 gross.
Normanton member George Middlebrook won The Headingley Trophy with the best Nett score of 65 -(7 under par)- but was closely followed by Edward McCormick (Moortown) with a fine score of 67. Freddie Linfoot (Woolley Park) was third with 71.
Whilst a player can only win one Prize Voucher on the day they can win more than one trophy and George Middlebrook also collected the Judy Raynor Cup for the best nett score by a player aged under 15.
