The 8th and final round of the Copier Company Junior Order of Merit was held at a sunny Sand Moor on 28th September where a fantastic field of 55 turned out to to see who would be victorious in winning the coveted Copier Company golf bags and claret jugs.
Local member Mila Dodds scored 34 gross points to gain 100 points in the gross competition on countback from Oliver Norminton (Cookridge Hall).
In the nett competition George Middlebrook (Normanton) had a brilliant round with a score of 46 points to gain 100 OOM points with Lucas Lewis (Horsforth) second on 39 points.
Going into the competition, 3 golfers had a chance of winning the Gross prize Sam Macintyre (Garforth) leading the way from Jack Emmingham (Waterton Park) and Dylan Scatchard (Sand Moor). Nether Sam nor Jack improved their scores with Dylan finishing 5th to improve his score. However it was not enough to overtake Sam. Sam was duly crowned Junior OOM champion 2025 on a score of 385 points, Jack second on 380 points and Dylan third on 368 points.
Both Zachary Shearsmith (Wetherby) and Charley Bedford (Woolley Park) were in with a chance of winning the nett prize. Charley was unable to improve on his score whereas Zac finished 5th to improve his points score. Zac finished first with a score of 395 points, Charley finished second on 356 points, one point ahead of Lucas Lewis.
2025 has seen a record number of Juniors competing in the Order of Merit, 118 taking part across the 8 events. The Union is grateful for the generous sponsorship of Steve Cavanagh and The Copier Company in providing the coveted golf bags.
