A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Another season has come and gone, leaving us with some unforgettable memories. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching both the Junior and Senior teams compete against other District Unions, witnessing many highlights along the way.
The Juniors' remarkable 34-2 victory over Bradford stands out, as does the Seniors' win against Bradford with a score of 28-8. It was a pleasure to watch this year’s outstanding player, Bailey Hird, claim both the Leeds Strokeplay and Matchplay Titles and be named Golfer of the Year. Bailey also finished as runner-up in the Yorkshire Matchplay. Many Junior players are sure to progress to our Senior ranks soon, and numerous Senior team members have achieved individual successes in their club Scratch and Championship events. My sincere thanks go to Paul Browning and Daz Walton for managing the teams—may their success continue.
Playing in several Associate Members and Alliance events during an excellent summer was especially enjoyable thanks to the green staff, who maintained superb courses despite the dry weather.
We concluded the season with our annual Christmas Charity event at Scarcroft on a rare dry but frosty morning. The event was well attended, with eighty players representing clubs from across the Union. Thanks to the Clubs for their generous club donations and Fourball Vouchers for the Charity Auction.
Please remember our Annual Dinner and Presentations at the Headingley Banqueting Suite on 11th March 2026—I hope you'll be able to join us.
Finally, I wish all our playing members and the Clubs within our Union a very Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and another successful season in 2026.
